Experience

Ir. Prof. Dr. Lim Boon Han is an Associate Professor at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Malaysia, with 25 years of experience in solar energy. He built an early government-subsidised PV pilot plant in China, invented and mass-produced the world's largest dual-axis sun-tracker (35 m in diameter), and designed and mass-produced 8 m × 8 m non-imaging focusing heliostats as solar furnaces. Working across both industry and academia, he has designed megawatts of PV power plants and been involved in more than 40 research projects with total funding exceeding USD 60 million, spanning almost the entire photovoltaic supply chain from feedstock purification to PV power plant. He holds Professional Engineer (Ir), Chartered Engineer (CEng) and accredited Train-the-Trainer qualifications, and is an Honorary Member of the Malaysia Photovoltaic Industry Association (MPiA), the Malaysia representative to Working Group 3 (PV Systems), Technical Committee 82 of the IEC, and a working group committee member on Photovoltaic Standards at the Department of Standards Malaysia. He has published 70 peer-reviewed papers, co-invented 12 patents, and is an alumnus of the Global Young Academy (GYA), an Associate Fellow of the ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technologies (AAET), a Fulbright Malaysian Scholar (2024–2025), and a visiting scholar awardee of the Chinese Academy of Sciences under the President's International Fellowship Initiative (2023–2024).
